About

Welcome to Conquering Cash! I created this blog in 2020. I really enjoy talking about frugal living, saving money, getting out of debt, budgeting, building emergency funds, paying off student loans, paying off the mortgage, saving for retirement, etc. But I also really like listening to others and talking to them about what they are trying to accomplish with their personal finances. Plus, I love writing! And, I love being creative and learning new technology. So, I started this site as a fun little project to keep myself entertained.

Not very many people, even including those in my circle, really like to talk about money. I have a few super-saver friends who may be as frugal as me, and I like talking with them about these topics. I have also realized how much time I spend researching and reading money-related matters and participating in online groups regarding personal finance. Heck, why not start my own blog to talk to others and talk about my financial journey. Thus, this is why I started Conquering Cash.

About Me

I am a dedicated mom of three and have a very supportive stay-at-home husband. I am very passionate about financial freedom. Our collaborative efforts have led us to achieve our goal of being completely debt-free and has allowed us to live on a single income for the past 8+ years. You will embark on my personal debt-free story, from conquering ๐Ÿ’ธstudent loans and ๐Ÿš™ car payments to becoming entirely ๐Ÿก mortgage-free. Learn from my experiences, triumphs, and lessons as we navigated the challenges of finances while growing into a full-blown ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ family.

The start of my debt-free journey was paying off my student loans and car payment.

I started my debt-free journey right after I got engaged and bought my first house. At that time, I had a new house payment, a car payment, student loans, and a wedding to plan! Three years late, I had paid off my car loan and my student loans. We were debt-free except for the mortgage! Then, we started aggressively paying extra on my mortgage while remodeling the house at the same time. Then, it all really slowed down.

We had, I would say, a 5-year pause as were transitioning into a full-blown family. I had my first baby. Then, we used our equity from our first home and moved into a larger home (putting 20% down on a 15-year loan). And, then I had another baby, and my husband quit his job to stay home with the kids as a full-time, stay-at-home dad! And, then I had a third baby! So, I am a mom of three lovely kids.

Completely debt-free, including the mortgage!

Not only is my husband an amazing dad, but he’s totally on board with our personal finances (and deals with me as the money nerd). Because of the decisions we have made, early on in our relationship and marriage, weโ€™ve been able to live on one income since then. Later we decided to begin making extra payments and be aggressive with paying off the mortgage. Our goal was to pay it off in 18 months! We did it! We are completely debt-free!

It is important to note that I am not a financial professional. I just love frugal living and personal finance. Please find a professional for financial advice and guidance.

Thank you for reading and coming along on my journey, no matter where you are with yours!

Are you ready to start conquering your cash?
